Wes Anderson

The one and only Wes Anderson has inspired me since I was a little kid. Watching his movies is like walking through a gallery or looking a book full of photographs. Every single shot he does is strong enough to stand alone as a photo. After graduating from school, Anderson attended the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in philosophy. It was here he met Owen Wilson They became firm friends and began making short films, some of which aired on a local cable access station. One of their shorts was Bottle Rocket (1994), which starred Owen and his brother Luke Wilson. The short was screened at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was successfully received, so much so that they received funding to make a future length version. Bottle Rocket (1996) was not a commercial hit, but gained a cult audience and high profile fans, including Martin Scorsesse.

I love how he creates these worlds. He focuses on every last detail in all of his films. He inspires me with his use of color, costumes, shot variety and music. All of his films have the ability to get me completely lost in them. I focus on the shots and costumes.

"A perfect blend of genius, humility, emotion and eccentricity—not unlike so many of his memorable characters—Wes and the worlds he imagines are undeniably sublime."
