Rob Hornstra: Documentary

Rob Hornstra was born in 1975 in the Netherlands. He is a documentary photographer that studied at the school of fine arts in Utrecht, NL. Since he graduated, he has worked predominantly on long-term projects, both at home and on across the world. He has published seven books of solo work: Sochi Singers, Safety First, Empty Land Promised Land Forbidden Land, On the Other Side of the Mountains, 101 Billionaires, Roots of the RĂșntur, and Communism & Cowgirls. Right now he is currently working with a filmmaker to document the changes that are occurring to Sochi, Russia over a five year period. The reason he went with this location is due to the fact that the 2014 Olympics will be held there. He wanted to see how many things would change in that time period to cater to the Olympic games. I really like that for this project it's not just photographs. The Sochi Project is mix of documentary photography, film. I don't know how the project will turn out obivously because it's not yet 2014 however, I have been able to watch his efforts via his facebook page.
